It is not always easy to keep track of all transport terms. Therefore, we have compiled a list of the most common ones:

FCL Full  Container Load
LCL Less than Container Load
TEU Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit.
BAF Bunker Adjustment Factor
Oil surcharge that covers the increasing fuel prices. BAF is based on the shipping lines’ fuel prices
CAF Currency Adjustment Factor
Currency fee to cover the devaluation of the currency representing the main part of the freight. The fee is determined by the shipping lines and is a percentage of the main freight
PSS Peak Season Surcharge
Surcharge paid per container from August to November for container fra Asia to Europe.
Heavy Surcharge Surcharge put on especially heavy 20’ container from the Far East. The surcharge varies from habour to habour
Low Sulphur Surcharge Sulphur surcharge on all vessels crossing The Baltic Sea, Kattegat, Skagerrak, The North Sea and The English Channel
